key interview recollection takeaways

(important enough to be remembered w/o notes in the rock, sex, rebellion)

you can optimize on a lot of different things:
- productivity
- communication in team
- communication across teams
- space efficiency

A happy grape is not necessarily a tasty grape. :)
(People aren't necessarily most productive and creative when most comfortable.)

Other issues that enter reality of space design:
- politics. Space is a resource and sometimes tact is required to avoid jealousy when it is allocated.

Questions for BR-
Role in move? Everything? Design? Coordination?

How long has it been clear that Google would need to move?

What characteristics were considered important to for the new building? Unimportant?

What characteristics were considered important to for the internal configuration of the space? Unimportant?

What's more difficult - internal space configuration or selecting the structure?

What do you think the ideal config for Google in this next year would be? How's that different from historical ideals?

What's would be the worst configuration of Google office space?

Who are the key decision makers in this?

What role do employees at large have in giving input? What kinds of input have you been getting?

How will you know if you've been successful?

Are there any documents I can read to get a better idea of how this process has been working?
 
Describe your favorite workspace. It might be where you do school work/projects, or a workplace. Make sure to describe the following attributes and how that particular characteristic works (or doesn't) work for you.
- how enclosed or open is it: visually, auditoril?
- how isolated is it from other workspaces?
- is the space flexible? inflexible?

Describe at least one way in which the design of the space changed the way you worked and the results you achieved. (The change can be for better or for worse.)
